UMi to provide specialist support to innovative Northern spin-outs

University spin-outs are set to receive specialist support from UMi, as we have been appointed to a framework contract with Durham University on behalf of the Northern Accelerator partnership. 

Six universities in the North of England will see their researchers’ ideas come to life as fledgling businesses spread their wings. 

Northern Accelerator, currently funded through Research England’s Connecting Capability Fund have a mission to translate world-leading research into innovative spin-out businesses. It currently consists of Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland, Teesside and York universities. 

Offering a wide range of services, Northern Accelerator want to bolster the support available to recent spin-out businesses, providing the advice and connections they need to accelerate their growth. 

As one of two suppliers appointed to deliver this contract, we will be working in partnership with specialist associates who bring a wealth of experience in working with universities and early-stage tech businesses.  

We will also be drawing on our experience of successfully delivering a similar programme for Northern Accelerator in 2020, which demonstrated our capabilities.
