Grey and Green announces new appointment

Grey and Green, the accountancy firm with practices in Maidenhead and Sheffield, has appointed Sri Ponnam as Accounts Assistant.

Sri, who graduated in 2013 with a degree in Commerce from Acharaya Nagarjuna University in India, has previously worked in a number of different accounting and tax-related roles for businesses within the UK and India. 

Amy De-Balsi joins Bruntwood SciTech as Head of Innovation and Partnerships in Leeds

Amy De-Balsi, founder of the Leeds Digital Jobs Fair, has joined Bruntwood SciTech as head of innovation and partnerships in Leeds.  

Based at Platform, home of one of the city’s leading tech co-working spaces, Amy is focused on bolstering Leeds’ tech cluster. Working in partnership with universities, professional services providers, investors and corporate tech teams in the city region to create opportunities for businesses to start and scale as well as helping to attract a wealth of tech talent to the city.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Poonam Kaur as vice chairman of its West Yorkshire branch.

Poonam is managing director of award-winning corporate finance firm fds based in Wakefield. She is an IoD Ambassador, representing the M&A sector and promoting the IoD’s 99 Club for young entrepreneurs and business start-ups.

Barclays Appoint New Business Development Director to the Yorkshire Larger Corporate team.

Barclays today announces a new appointment to the Yorkshire Larger Corporate team in its drive to be the first choice banking provider for businesses in the Yorkshire area.

Alexandra Fogal joins the team as a Business Development Director and will be responsible for looking after the needs of larger businesses with a turnover of £6.5 million upwards across Yorkshire.

New appointment for the University of Leeds’ new innovation hub

Nexus, the University of Leeds’ new innovation hub, has bolstered its team with the appointment of an Engagement Manager for Talent and Skills, ahead of its official opening in May.

Jo Howorth, will be responsible for connecting businesses with skills, talent and education opportunities within the University.

Sheffield Forgemasters promotes new director

Sheffield based engineering specialist Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd, has promoted 33-year-old Gemma Allchin to the position of HR director.

The promotion takes Gemma from the role of HR manager, a job she has held for four years, to become the tenth member of the executive management team.

Business development manager appointed at Reed Boardall

Yorkshire-based temperature controlled storage and distribution business Reed Boardall has appointed Stevland Town as business development manager.

In his new role, Stevland will work closely with the directors of the group’s cold storage and transport divisions to extend services to existing customers as well as identifying and developing new opportunities with other food processors and retailers throughout the UK.

Another two lawyers join Clarion’s growing Corporate team

Clarion is continuing to build on its ongoing commitment of investing in new talent with the appointment of Wendy Catterall and Hannah Nelson as associates in the firm’s Corporate team.

Wendy and Hannah’s appointments form a key part of Clarion’s growth strategy and will further advance the Corporate team’s strong track record for delivering high standards of client service and fast turnaround.

After surveying his future Louis joint Adept

Leeds based Adept Civil and Structural Consulting Engineers has appointed Louis Weston as a topographical surveyor and revit software technician, in order to expand the company’s specialist terrestrial laser scanning service.

In his new role, Louis visits all types of construction sites and uses Adept’s state of the art laser point cloud scanning technology and Revit Building Information Modelling (BIM) software to produce highly detailed and accurate as-built 3D models of buildings, landscapes and sites. In addition to Adept’s own projects, the service is used by architects, surveyors, other engineering firms and contractors.

Hat-trick of appointments for shredder specialist

Industrial shredder specialist UNTHA UK has announced a hat-trick of appointments as the growing business gears up for even further expansion.

Marie Dransfield joins the North Yorkshire headquartered company as quality and environmental manager.

With a career spanning all things process-related, she has worked in various roles ranging from sales and customer service, to contracts and IT. As UNTHA UK’s standards champion, she will ensure the team upholds its approach to everything under the internal auditing, ISO certification, risk management, and compliance umbrellas.

New CEO and board member for Yorkshire investment firm

A Yorkshire-based wealth management firm has appointed a new chief executive officer and promoted a new member to its board of directors.

Leodis Wealth Asset Management is a 31-year old Leeds-based asset management firm based in Pavillion Business Park.

With six years’ experience as director of the firm, Simon Cocking has been appointed to CEO.

New appointment makes Monday at Nine the agency for agencies

Leeds-based recruitment consultancy, Monday at Nine has bolstered its senior management team with the appointment of George Jackson as head of agency.

Having launched 18-months ago, Monday at Nine has established itself as the recruiter of choice for its portfolio of clients, handling vacancies across marketing, sales, technology and innovation sectors.

George joins the business with six years’ experience recruiting for some of the UK’s leading integrated, digital, PR and media agencies and will spearhead the brand-new Agency Recruitment division.

New team member at North Yorkshire Youth and Carlton Lodge Activity Centre to support growing Youth Participation network.

North Yorkshire Youth (NYY) a children and young people’s charity based near Thirsk, North Yorkshire has appointed Jayne Shackleton as Local youth participation worker within the Youth Development Team at Carlton Lodge. 

Jayne will be supporting colleagues in the Youth Development team to create initiatives to give young people in the area more opportunities to give their own voice about their needs.

Jayne’s appointment follows on from her experience of working with young people in several roles in the past including being a community intervention worker and family outreach support worker for North Yorkshire County Council Children and Families Services and has also previously been a pastoral mentor in schools.

Castlehouse construction appoints new contracts manager

Leeds-based Castlehouse Construction has appointed Chris Drake as Contracts Manager to oversee key projects across its growing portfolio.

Chris joins from Harris Construction where he was Contracts Manager working on a variety of projects, including Britvic’s £35m new build in Leeds, Beckton and Rugby and the £1.8m listed building works at Sheffield Girls School.

Prior to that, he was freelance Contracts Manager at Wates living space where he delivered a £26m PFI project for Oldham Council.

Chris brings more than 30 years experience in the construction industry to the company and will oversee a range of projects for Castlehouse from start to completion, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.

Blacks Solicitors expands with key hires

Leeds-based law firm Blacks Solicitors LLP continues to grow with the appointment of Phil Parkinson and Jenna Meehan to the Commercial Law team.

With over 15 years of commercial law experience, Phil joins Blacks as a Partner where he will be leading and developing the Commercial Law team.

Phil advises on intellectual property and marketing arrangements and has specialist knowledge in compliance (including GDPR), project management, planning change, and applications of the law in sport.

New appointment sets industrial property specialist up for growth

Commercial and industrial lettings expert Towngate PLC has strengthened its facilities management department as the firm gears up for growth in 2019.

With almost 10 years’ experience within property management, Jake Wilde has been appointed to support existing team member Nick Yates in the maintenance of industrial sites and estates within the Towngate portfolio.

He brings with him a wealth of knowledge from his previous role at thebigword – a family run translation and interpreting business in Leeds – where he was responsible for the facilities management of all their premises, including overseeing refurbishment projects, health and safety, PAT testing, asbestos reports, service charges.

JLL launches new planning and development team

Property consultant JLL has launched a new planning and development team for the Yorkshire and North-East region.

The team will work with landowners and developers with a focus on accelerating the delivery of property developments, particularly residential sites, across the region.

Made up of directors Henry Burton, Joanna Gabrilatsou and Charles Calvert, associate Jamie Cardwell, senior surveyor Hannah Partington and surveyor Zoe Peace, the team’s combined expertise extends across all sectors, size and complexity of developments to ensure delivery.

Begbies Traynor Group plc strengthens Northern advisory offering with appointment of new partner

Business recovery, financial advisory and property services consultancy Begbies Traynor Group plc has appointed restructuring and corporate finance specialist Martin Barron as a partner in its BTG Advisory team in Leeds.

Martin has worked across a wide range of sectors and organisations from small owner managed businesses to large corporates and public sector bodies. His areas of expertise include cash and working performance improvement, capital optimisation, turnaround planning, distressed debt advisory, financial and operational restructuring.
