Businesses come together to celebrate transformation, resilience and innovation at the Digital Enterprise TOP 100 event
UMi, in partnership with Digital Enterprise, marked the publication of the second Digital Enterprise TOP 100 report with a virtual celebration event on 30 March 2021.
The event, which was hosted by Jonny Ross, Digital Marketing Strategist at Fleek Marketing, celebrated the most digitally innovational, resilient and innovative businesses from across the Leeds City Region by announcing each of the TOP 100 companies included in this year’s report.
In a year that has seen digital adoption accelerated under the pressure of the pandemic, the Digital Enterprise TOP 100 report recognises those business that have embraced innovation and excelled in their digital transformation through education and investment.
Attendees, entrants, ambassadors and supporters of Digital Enterprise were given the opportunity to network with one another before the celebratory event began.
Nicki Clark, Chief Executive of UMi, kicked off the celebrations by highlighting the ways in which UMi is currently supporting businesses to do more and go further through digital adoption and transformation, and congratulated the businesses included in the TOP 100 report.
Leanne Miller, Senior Project Manager at UMi then spoke of the support currently available through Digital Enterprise, particularly the Digital Knowledge Exchange support programme.
This was followed by a group discussion among a panel of four ‘Leading Lights’ from the TOP 100, which received special recognition from the judges for their bright and innovative adoption of digital technology.
During the group discussion, the panel spoke of their individual experiences building businesses and using digital advancements to adapt and grow, particularly over the past 12 months in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The group also discussed the issues facing women in tech, addressing the positive changes that have occurred to support females across the industry, but agreeing that more still needs to be done.
Looking ahead, the panel gave their predictions on how future digital advancement is likely to shape the world around us and it was agreed that the mass adoption of Augmented Reality (AR) is likely to become the norm in our day-to-day lives.
Speaking at the event, UMi’s Chief Executive Nicki Clark, explained: “The TOP 100 rightly celebrates those who have harnessed the power of wisdom and expertise that exist in the broader world around us.
“In today’s environment, open mindedness is critical. The ability to think differently and to learn from others has enabled many business owners and leaders to much more easily navigate the unchartered waters that we’ve all experienced in the last year.”
Muz Mumtaz, Head of Digital Enterprise, closed the celebration saying: “Congratulations to all of the TOP 100. As one of the members of the judging panel, we struggled to fit all of the wonderful businesses into the TOP 100. It’s an honour and a privilege to be working with such amazing businesses.
“This is the second Digital Enterprise TOP 100 campaign, and we weren’t sure how it was going to go because of lockdown and the various uncertainties we’re all facing at the moment, but we were blown away by demand and interest, and the quality of entrants we received were absolutely fantastic.”
