Women of Achievement Awards postponed until 2021
The much-anticipated Women of Achievement Awards, hosted by local organisation Women in Business (WIB), has been postponed until November 2021
Originally set to take place in November this year, the decision to delay the awards has been made due to circumstances surrounding covid-19, in a bid to keep people as safe as possible.
Recognising inspirational women in business in Hull and East Yorkshire, the Women of Achievement Awards (WOA awards) celebrate the accomplishments of those who are setting the standards in their business or workplace, and making an outstanding contribution to their community.
With a new date for the awards to be announced in due course, an official launch event will take place in April 2021 to announce further details, which includes a confirmed high-profile guest speaker, compere, judging panel and sponsors.
Remaining sponsorship opportunities are also open to businesses that would like to get involved.
Natalie Houfe, chairman of Women in Business, said: “Although we are disappointed to announce the postponement of the 2020 WIB WOA awards this year, the safety of our guests is our upmost priority!
“Hosting the event in November 2021 will enable an extra layer to our awards. It will provide us an opportunity to recognise businesses who have adapted, shown resilience and flexibility, and supported their staff or the community during these unprecedented times. This will be an extremely inspirational event where we can support and celebrate the endurance of local businesses. Plus, we will be in the safest possible environment for those attending.
“We can’t wait to announce the exciting guest speaker we have lined up, and to recognise the best of the best in business in the Hull and East Yorkshire area.
“We would like to thank everyone involved for their understanding at this difficult time and wish the best to those working their hardest during the pandemic.”
The WOA awards is Women in Business’ largest event, with over 400 influential delegates set to be in attendance. A hugely popular event in the business calendar, previous years have sold out within days of launching.
Taking place at the Mecure Hotel, the awards provide a stage for the amazing, talented, committed and passionate women in the local business community.
With 2020 marking WIB’s 25th anniversary, the organisation has adapted to support their members through these challenging times, and although having to cancel normal scheduled events, they now have social events via Zoom so no one is isolated, no matter how small their business. Plus, webinars are taking place for training, wellness, and inspiration, in a bid to help connect and support as many local businesses as they can.
