A Sheffield IT company says it has been working flat out to support businesses set up home working with a record number of requests for help.

Kaizen IT and Telecom based in Ecclesfield has dealt with over 400 calls from its customers in just three days. 

Co-owner Steve Timmiss said: “It does look now as though we might have weathered the initial storm as incoming jobs are slowing down, but it has been crazy with all our staff working extra hours to keep up with demand.

“When I speak to other IT support companies most are in the same boat. We are all just trying to help other businesses work from home, so they can keep on functioning.”

Steve added that anyone working from home had to bear in mind that their home internet may not be as fast as the connection they are used to in the office. A simple fix could be to use an ethernet cable rather than Wi-Fi where possible and to compress large files before trying to upload them.

“Working from home is not a panacea, but it could be the only way we can get through this together,” said Steve.

Kaizen, which was set up in 2004, provides IT and telecom support mainly for companies in the creative industries. It employs 30 staff across its Sheffield headquarters and an office in London.
