Silicon Valley Comes to the UK (SVC2UK) has revealed its annual list of the 70 most ambitious high-growth technology companies joining the 2019 ‘Scale Up Club’, which celebrates the most-promising businesses from across the UK who are scaling fast.

Thirty-nine per cent of the companies listed are led by female entrepreneurs, including Dana Denis-Smith, Founder and CEO Obelisk Support; Arya Taware, Founder and CEO Future Bricks; Diane Young, CEO the Drum.

With a total of 3,246 combined employees worldwide and a combined revenue of £180 million in 2018, this year’s Scale Up Club cohort spans some of the UK’s most innovative and competitive sectors, including technology (83%), life sciences (14%) and urban (3%).

Each year SVC2UK selects a group of the world’s fastest growing companies to join the exclusive Scale Up Club. In addition to gaining access to the prestigious invite-only CEO Summit in London on 20th November, the companies will have the unique opportunity to gain invaluable insight and mentoring from some of the world’s most high-profile CEOs, founders, entrepreneurs and business leaders from the US and the UK.

This year’s mentors include Dale Murray, Partner Founders Intelligence; David Hornik, Partner August Capital and Antony Fletcher, CEO Graze. Small workshops are held throughout the morning of the CEO Summit, with mentors helping the Scale Up Club members to address their current challenges in reaching their fullest growth potential.

The CEO Summit is the flagship event of SVC2UK, which was launched in 2006 by Sherry Coutu CBE, Reid Hoffman and Ellen Levy.

SVC2UK 3 1

Previous Scale Up Club alumni such as TransferWise and SkyScanner are now valued at over $1 billion and represent some of the UK’s most successful technology companies. SVC2UK has since supported the achievements of 740 Scale Up Club CEOs and founders in total.

Janet Coyle, Director of SVC2UK, said "The UK’s most ambitious tech scale ups have been going from strength to strength, and we’re proud to celebrate what this year’s founders have achieved. London continues to work with Silicon Valley and other tech hubs around the world to promote greater inclusivity and we are proud to see that 39% of this year’s scale ups are led by women entrepreneurs. The Scale-Up club provides a great opportunity to bring together some of the best entrepreneurs, CEOs and mentors from the UK and Bay Area and we can’t wait to demonstrate the power of collaboration."

Bethany Koby, Co-Founder and CEO of Tech Will Save Us, added: "My entrepreneurial journey has dramatically changed since being involved with the SVC2UK community. The honesty, generosity and mind-blowing experiences of this community have helped me as a leader be my best self and our business make better decisions. I am consistently honoured to be part of this group of game changers!”
