Beamish Park Golf Club to become a year-round destination with £400,000 funding boost

A County Durham golf club has secured a £400,000 facility to invest in the club, provide new services to its community and strengthen its financial position.

Beamish Park Golf Club Limited has completed a significant refinance project following tailored advice from the UMi Get Funding Team, the specialist funding service that simplifies access to finance for UK businesses. The funding will enable the club to invest across its facilities while improving and reorganising historic borrowing to ease short and medium-term cashflow pressures.

The £400,000 flexible facility was provided by peer-to-peer lender FOLK2FOLK and structured to deliver significant savings enabling the club to move forward with confidence with its growth ambitions.

The funding will support a programme of improvements and reinvestment, including refurbishment of Beamish Lodge into visitor accommodation, upgrades to the professional shop and development of the club’s mobile home and visitor parking.

Beyond strengthening the club’s finances, the investment is expected to play a wider role in supporting the visitor economy in County Durham, helping position Beamish Park Golf Club as a year-round destination for both local residents and visitors to the region.

By investing in its infrastructure and services, Beamish Park Golf Club is aiming to grow its contribution to the local economy, supporting jobs, local supply chains and increased visitor spend, while reinforcing its role as a community hub and destination venue within the North East.

Dave Jones, Business Funding Adviser at UMi Get Funding, said: “Beamish Park Golf Club came to us with a clear ambition to invest in its future while also bringing its historic finances into better shape. Our role was to identify a funding solution that would reduce monthly pressures, provide breathing space, and give the business time to see the results of its plans coming through.

“By securing a facility with FOLK2FOLK, we were able to deliver a competitive structure that meets those objectives and supports the club’s longer-term plans.”

The new funding arrangements provided competitive terms that not only deliver meaningful monthly savings but also provides the flexibility needed to support the future growth ambitions of the organisation.

Phil Dobson, Treasurer at Beamish Park Golf Club, said: “This funding is a real step forward for the club. It allows us to invest in the areas that will generate new income and improve the experience for our members and visitors, while also simplifying and restructuring our existing borrowing.

“The support from UMi Get Funding was invaluable. Dave took the time to fully understand our situation and guided us through the options, ensuring we ended up with a solution that genuinely works for the club both now and in the future.”

The deal was backed by FOLK2FOLK, a specialist peer-to-peer lender known for its flexible, relationship-led approach to business finance.
