UMi and Durham Business Growth helps Encore fund its fully automated warehouse
With support from UMi through the Durham Business Growth and Productivity Programme, Encore secured a grant to unlock the full potential of their new automated warehouse. The site was disconnected by the previous tenant, meaning not only the purchase of the assets was needed, but also new software created from scratch to breathe life back into the systems.
The 10,000-pallet bay warehouse, fit with self-running convey belts and cranes, has more storage space than Encore’s other three sites combined. This led to not only and increase in capacity and new client opportunities, but also more jobs to meet the new demand.
The Durham Business Growth and Productivity Programme is a comprehensive initiative designed to elevate productivity and foster growth within businesses located in County Durham.
The programme is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). This strategic undertaking is dedicated to not only creating a robust economic environment but also ensuring the creation of quality employment opportunities, all within the framework of an inclusive and sustainable green economy.
Operating until March 2026, this programme represents a pivotal period for businesses seeking to thrive and contribute to the regional economic landscape.
