UMi Get Funding expands amid rising demand for growth finance
More than 1,000 businesses from across the UK have turned to UMi Get Funding for support since the service launched in January 2025, as growing numbers seek expert guidance to access finance, investment and wider business support.
The specialist funding service has already helped business across the UK secure £4.4m, while a further £54m is currently progressing through the pipeline.
UMi Get Funding has also supported more than 950 businesses with funding and investment readiness guidance, helping companies better understand their options and improve their chances of securing the finance needed to grow.
Alongside direct funding support, the service has made over 600 referrals to organisations offering grants, start-up loans and specialist public and private sector support, ensuring businesses can access the most appropriate help at every stage of their journey.
The growth reflects increasing demand from businesses looking for independent guidance through what can often be a complex and fragmented funding landscape.
Julie Cuthbertson, Chief Funding Solutions Officer at UMi, said: "Businesses today are faced with more funding options than ever before, but understanding what support is available and finding the right route can be challenging and time-consuming.
"We created UMi Get Funding to make that process easier. Our role is not simply to help businesses access funding, but to help them understand the wider landscape, prepare for investment, strengthen their propositions and connect with the right expertise to achieve their ambitions.
"Passing the milestone of more than 1,000 businesses supported demonstrates the demand for this kind of support and highlights the importance of having trusted advisers who can help businesses navigate their options with confidence."
Among the businesses supported by the service are Beamish Park Golf Club, which secured a £400,000 funding package to invest in new facilities and strengthen its financial position, and Brace Yourself, a North Shields-based sports and orthopaedic supplier that accessed £150,000 to help scale operations and support growth plans linked to a new product launch, backed by tennis star Novak Djokovic.
A key factor behind the service's growth has been the development of an extensive UK-wide network of trusted partners, now numbering in the hundreds, spanning lenders, investors, grant providers, professional advisers and business support organisations.
This collaborative approach enables UMi Get Funding to connect businesses with the expertise, finance and support they need more quickly, regardless of their size, sector or stage of development.
Customer feedback has also been consistently positive, with every completed customer survey returning top satisfaction scores, reflecting the value businesses place on receiving independent, tailored advice.
The service's early success has also attracted national industry recognition. UMi Get Funding has been shortlisted for three National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) Awards 2026, including Pioneering Broker of the Year, Intermediary Excellence Award, and Unsung Hero of the Year for business funding executive Claire Hinde.
Julie added: "Being shortlisted for three national awards is encouraging recognition of the impact the team is making. It reflects our commitment to raising standards, embracing innovation and, most importantly, helping businesses find the support they need to do more and go further.
"We're incredibly proud of what has been achieved so far, but this is just the beginning. With significant demand continuing and a strong pipeline of opportunities, we look forward to supporting even more businesses across the UK in the years ahead."
To meet increasing demand, UMi has recently expanded its specialist funding team, strengthening its capacity to support businesses nationwide and build on the service's early success.
