New Durham office space sets UMi up for a Net Zero future

Alongside our recent B Corp certification, we have also completed the purchase of its new office premises which firmly sets us on the path to Net Zero, further enhancing our environmental impact and credentials.

The office, at Allergate House in Durham, will undergo significant work to bring it up to Grade A office standard and to vastly improve its energy efficiency.

Allergate House is based within Belmont Business Park, which is approximately 2 miles north-east of Durham city centre.

As well becoming our new home in the North East for our national activity, Allergate House will also provide a dedicated space for local businesses to use, creating a collaborative hub that offers hybrid working at an affordable cost as the business community navigates the ongoing increasing cost and challenges of trading.

Nicki Clark, UMi CEO, said: “UMi’s investment in our office space reflects our ethos as an employee-owned and responsible business, focussing on the long-term and creating a positive impact in the world around us. Our new space enhances our ability to deliver upon our ambitious plans to support businesses across the UK with advice, finance and wider assistance to help make doing business easier.

“We know businesses of all sizes are feeling the effects of the rising cost of trading, so at the core of our new office is a workspace for the local business community, at an affordable cost, fostering collaboration and helping our business community thrive.”
